Communication and conflict
The same fight on repeat. One of you pursues, one withdraws, and neither feels heard. We teach a different way to say the hard thing.
Marriage and couples counseling
Most couples wait until the arguments are old and the silence is normal. We meet you where you actually are, with a plan for the week ahead and no polished distance. Offices online, by telephone, and in person in Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint.
What we work on
Whether it is rebuilding connection and purpose over time, or a multi-day crisis intervention to stabilize a collapsing life or marriage, Art of Redirection is here for you. We focus on proactive care that helps couples and individuals cultivate healthy communication, recover from everyday trauma (such as first responder burnout), and rediscover their personal identity and purpose. Our approach is built around steady, weekly skill-building and clinical guidance, helping couples with general marital maintenance and helping families strengthen their emotional foundations before relationships completely break down.
The same fight on repeat. One of you pursues, one withdraws, and neither feels heard. We teach a different way to say the hard thing.
Disclosure, the partner who found out, and the long work of rebuilding. We do not rush past the damage.
Roommates instead of partners. Closeness that feels unsafe, or a partner who keeps pulling away. Intimacy anorexia is real and treatable.
Separation talk, blended family strain, a move, a grown child in crisis. Some couples need a plan as much as they need a conversation.
Why this looks different
Rob and Kathy are married, licensed, and have worked side by side for more than twenty years. Counseling here is steady: we meet you weekly, work at the root, and give you something to practice before the next session.
We have worked with couples in their worst moments since 2002. We have also worked with couples who simply woke up one day and realized they had become roommates. Both are welcome here.

Three ways to work with us
Some couples need an hour a week. Some need to get out of the house and stay until something moves. Some want a map before they start. We will tell you which one fits.
Ongoing couples counseling, in person or online, with both partners and a plan between sessions.
How sessions workA focused block of time for a marriage in crisis, with enough hours to get underneath it.
Explore intensivesAn assessment that shows how each of you is wired, then a conversation about what it means for the two of you.
Explore Deep OriginFor the partner who found out
If you are the partner who discovered the lies, you are not the problem to be managed. Your grief, anger, and questions are normal. We work with you directly, and with the couple when it is safe and useful.
Sexual addiction and compulsive behavior do not disappear because someone promises harder. It takes a plan, honesty, and usually a group. We treat it as a specialty, after the relationship work has a foundation.

Questions people ask first
It depends on what you are carrying. Some couples come for six or eight sessions around a specific crisis. Others stay longer because the patterns are older. We review progress with you instead of leaving it open ended.
Come anyway. One person can change the way a relationship runs, and we can help you work on what is yours to work on. If your partner is willing later, we pick up from there.
We are EAP and in-network providers with a few insurances. Please call to verify if we take the one you have. If we do not, an agreement can sometimes be made on an individual basis. We are also a Military OneSource and TRICARE / TriWest authorized network provider, and we serve veterans regardless of ability to pay.
