About the practice

Real people. Serious training. No polished distance.

Art of Redirection was founded in 2002 for a simple reason: practical, honest help for people in real trouble. More than twenty years later, that is still the work.

Our story

Founded to help people redirect.

We wanted to provide professional, action-based counseling for individuals with addictions and for couples in crisis. Not a lecture, not a pat on the hand, and not a generic plan copied from a book. Real help for the hard moments.

Since 2002 we have worked with addicted, broken, and hurting people in their worst moments. We have also worked with couples who simply woke up one day and realized they had become roommates. Both are welcome here.

Our counselors bring more than 50 years of combined theoretical and practical experience. We are trained by licensed psychologist Dr. Doug Weiss, an internationally known sexual addiction specialist, and we continue that training.

Rob and Kathy are published authors who have led teaching and training seminars around the United States on arrested development, intimacy, and parenting.

In their words

We are not conventional counselors.

As professional counselors, we want you to know we are real people, passionate about life, each other, and helping others. We do not look down our noses or think people are not good enough. We are Marine parents, firefighters, we ride Harleys, hunt, and do other exhilarating things. We have been there, and we want to come alongside you and your spouse and help you with the hard stuff.

The counselors

Meet the people you will sit with.

You will not be handed to a rotating associate. Rob and Kathy see clients themselves, and for intensives they work together.

Faith

Faith is welcome here.

We are Christian counselors, and spiritual intimacy matters in the work we do. If faith is part of your story, we will make room for it. If you are unsure, angry at God, or not religious at all, you are still welcome. We will meet you where you are and not use your session as a sermon.

Service

Military and veterans.

We welcome all civilians, military, and their families. We are a Military OneSource and TRICARE / TriWest authorized network provider, and we serve veterans regardless of ability to pay. If cost is the reason you have not called, call anyway.
